Caribben Region: Haiti

by Frank Vaughn, Regional Director

GOD HAS PERFORMED a miracle for us! Following the Haiti earthquake, the home we used for the orphanage was damaged and the city of Port-au-Prince was not safe. Furthermore, we did not have another building to house the children. But, as a result of your prayers, God intervened on behalf of the orphans. They are now doing very well. What a blessing to see them running and playing. The children begin their mornings by singing, praying, and thanking God for all He has done for them.

orphanageBecause of transporting the children to HIM's mission compound in Grand Riviere, we had to provide immediate housing for the children. However, this added the need for a permanent home for the orphans. Thus, the building project we began is progressing as we work to enlarge the mission house at Grand Riviere. The cement floor has been poured on the addition, so we can now finish the first floor and start on the addition upstairs. Please pray that God will continue to supply all the funds to complete this project.

God is helping in the overall rebuilding processes of the infrastructure, the morale, and the leadership of the work in Haiti.

We have started a milk project that will provide two glasses of milk a day for each child. The cost is $60.00 a month. This is in addition to the $1300.00 we already send each month.

We are considering taking five more children and helping an amputee. This is a young man that lost both legs from the earthquake and has very little help. Would you please pray and ask God what He wants you to do to help? One of our orphan boys needs a hernia operation. We praise the Lord for providing the total amount ($500-600 US) to cover this surgery.

The new school year is off to a great start. Part of the preparation for this new school year was to incorporate the orphans into the school at Grand Riviere. Since the orphanage has been moved to Grand Riviere, the children will be attending the mission school. This will also increase the cost for sending the children to school. Books, uniforms, and tuition will cost $1680 for the school year. We are also working out the details to send a young man to Bible school in Port-au-Prince. The estimated cost for this is $1000-1200 a year.

God is helping in the overall rebuilding processes of the infrastructure, the morale, and the leadership of the work in Haiti. Hope is on the horizon for Haiti. It is all because of the prayerful investment of God's people. Please continue to support us with your prayers. Thanks for your partnership.
